From booking taxis to planning incredible days out, from taking sunset selfies to keeping the kids entertained, you’ll need to stay connected on your travels.

When you’re planning your trip, make sure you know how much it costs to use your device to roam. That way you can scroll, upload, get directions, and stay connected without worrying about sky high costs.

First things first

If you want to roam abroad, you’ll need to have roaming enabled on your account and on your phone.

You can check that roaming is active by giving us a call on 333. You can also follow these steps to turn on roaming

On most phones, you can check whether roaming is enabled in Settings under Mobile data. You can check out Device support for more help.

Remember, smartphones typically connect automatically to the internet. So, if you don’t want to roam in a destination, make sure you switch off data roaming.

Go Roam on Three

Go Roam allows you to use your data, minutes, and text allowances in over 160 destinations worldwide[1].

Our Go Roam destinations are split into three categories – Go Roam in Europe, Go Roam Around the World, and Go Roam Around the World Extra.

You can check which category your roaming destination falls into here

What’s included with your plan?

Go Roam works a little differently on our Pay Monthly and Pay As You Go plans. You can find information on roaming with Pay As You Go here.

Pay Monthly plans started on or after 22 Jun 2025

  • If you have a Complete plan, all Go Roam in Europe, Around the World and Around the World Extra destinations are included at no extra cost[1].
  • If you have a Value plan, all Go Roam in Europe destinations are included at no extra cost.
  • If you have a Lite plan, you’ll need to buy a Go Roam Pass – or daily roaming charges will apply.

Pay Monthly plans started between 01 Oct 2021 – 22 Jun 2025

  • Depending on your plan, you may have a number of Go Roam Passes included.
  • If you don’t have any passes included – or you run out – you’ll need to buy a Go Roam Pass, or daily roaming charges will apply[1].

Plans started before 01 Oct 2021

  • All Go Roam in Europe and Around the World destinations are included at no extra cost[1].
  • Data, minutes, and texts are not included for any Go Roam Around the World Extra destinations.

You can easily check whether your plan has inclusive Go Roam Passes, or buy a Go Roam pass, by visiting My3 or by logging in to the Three app.

What are the daily roaming charges?

If you travel to a destination not covered by your plan, or you don’t have a Go Roam pass, you’ll need to pay a daily charge to unlock your UK allowances[1]:

  • For our Go Roam in Europe destinations, it costs £2 for 24 hours.
  • For our Go Roam Around the World destinations, it costs £5 for 24 hours.
  • For our Go Roam Around the World Extra destinations, it costs £7 for 24 hours.

Important: If you have a Spend Cap on your account, it must cover this daily roaming charge, plus any other charges. If not, you won’t be able to roam.

Get unlimited data with a Data Passport

A Data Passport is perfect if you use a lot of data, because it gives you unlimited data for £5 a day. Data Passports are available to use in 89 destinations. You can read more about Data Passports here

To buy one ahead of your trip, go to My3 or visit the Three app, and click Explore all Add-ons, then Roaming. Your Data Passport will automatically activate when you first use some data abroad, and you won’t be charged a daily roaming charge for using data while it’s active.

Alternatively, you can buy a Data Passport once you arrive. You’ll get an SMS from us if you’re in an eligible location, which has a link for you to buy the Data Passport.

What if I’m not travelling to a Go Roam destination?

Your normal allowances aren’t available in destinations that aren’t part of Go Roam. You’ll be charged the standard roaming rate, which will vary depending on your destination.

You can find out about roaming abroad charges here.

Avoid charges with a Spend Cap

To help manage your roaming costs, you can set up a Spend Cap to limit spending on things not included in your monthly plan. You’ll need to set this to your preferred limit amount ahead of your travels, so you’re able to pay for the daily roaming charges in your destination, and don’t have any difficulty roaming.

It’s easy to change by logging in to My3 or using the Three app.

Worldwide data roaming limit

We’ve set up a worldwide data roaming limit for all our customers, so you don’t overspend while you’re abroad. This is set at £45 (excluding VAT) by default. If you’d like to change it, please get in touch.

Look out for our SMS notifications

When you arrive in a destination, we’ll text you info on any charges you can expect  while you are roaming. We’ll also let you know when any roaming passes or Data Passports have been activated and when they will end. To see your usage, check the Three app or log in to your My3 account.
